The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) played a major role in helping late songstress Bulelwa “Zahara” Mkutukana save her Roodepoort home last year.

This is according to Sunday World who revealed that the political party – led by Julius Malema – paid R100 000 into Zahara’s home loan account to clear her debt.

Her monthly payments had reportedly amount to R17 665,40.

As a result, Zahara’s home is reportedly said to be put up for auction on Saturday, 7th May 2022.

In response to these claims, Zahara has admitted that she has struggled to make payments due to the covid-19 pandemic, but she has however made up for missed payments.

“I paid R100 000 in December and followed that up with another R80 000 in February, paying the account in advance.”

Last year, the Loliwe hitmaker was on the verge of losing her townhouse as a result of defaulting on her monthly instalments of R17 665, 40. Nedbank, which had given her a R1.9 million loan, was set to auction off her home to the highest bidder.

After going public and asking for donations, Zahara’s house was saved. The singer had received help from her fans and one major donor; whom she said was a businessman. It has since emerged that it was actually the EFF.
