JT launches “No Bars Reform,” a new mission to help formerly incarcerated women navigate life after prison.
The website offers resources for employment, housing, therapy, substance abuse, and mental health issues.
According to the website, No Bars Reform offers resources to assist women in finding employment, housing, therapy, substance abuse help, and additional opportunities. “After spending almost two years in a Florida prison before being released in 2020, JT has vowed to use her voice and platform to help other incarcerated women rehabilitate into society,” a statement on the site reads.
The “Act Up” rapper has endured her own experience behind bars, as she was arrested and charged with aggravated identity theft in 2018. Sentenced to 24 months in federal prison, JT was released on March 7, 2020, dropping her “JT First Day Out” freestyle in late 2019 to celebrate her homecoming.
“No Bars” is marked as the Florida rapper’s first solo in four years, a follow-up to 2019’s “JT First Day Out,” which celebrated the 30-year-old’s release from a Florida prison to a halfway house. The new single is currently trending on Twitter as it hit No. 1 on the iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap chart and reached the top 5 of the media streamer’s all-genre chart. After officially being freed from federal custody in March 2020, JT was featured in Summer Walker’s “Ex For A Reason” and Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl (Queen Mix).”
According to her label, JT’s “No Bars” track will appear on the upcoming City Girls album. The Miami-bred duo, which also includes Yung Miami, has not put out a full-length body of work since City on Lock in 2020.
