– The prosecutor is seeking a 9 year jail sentence for Alves and for him to pay damages of €150,000 to the woman.
– The woman’s friend stated she was crying uncontrollably after leaving the washroom.
– The former player claims she could have left at any point and at no time did she ask to leave.
– His wife said he came home extremely drunk that night, bumped into furniture, and then collapsed on the bed.
A verdict will be made in the upcoming weeks.
Former star Brazilian footballer Dani Alves went on trial Monday in Barcelona accused of raping a woman in a local nightclub.
The 40-year-old was driven to court in a police van from Brians 2 Prison near the Catalan capital, where he has been held on remand since his arrest in January 2023.The trial is expected to finish on Wednesday.
The 40-year-old had maintained in December 2023 he had consensual sex with his accuser.
The three-time Champions League winner has said they had consensual sex after initially denying knowing the woman during a television interview.
According to the prosecution, Alves — who was on holiday in Barcelona at the time after playing for Brazil at the World Cup in Qatar — offered champagne to the young woman and her friend.
