The West Gang leader, known as Mnqobi, was just 22-years-old.
He was linked to over 20 cases – murder, attempted murder, robbery, intimidation, arson – and had killed more than ten people.
The gang has been terrorising communities north of Durban.
Members of the Inanda Task Team and NIU had been working on this intelligence-driven operation since the early hours of the morning.
