Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command, on Tuesday, arrested two suspected armed robbers for allegedly dispossessing a rice seller, Nonso Nwibo, of the sum of N120,000.

The suspects, Sadiiq Hassan and Kudus Rasak, allegedly attacked the trader at the Ipamesan area of Sango-Ota in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

Oyeyemi said the suspects were arrested following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer, Sango-Ota Division, CSP Godwin Idehai, that robbers had invaded the shop of the victim.

The PPRO said Nonso claimed that he was dispossessed of the sum of N120,000 and his Tecno mobile phone at gunpoint.

Oyeyemi stated, “Upon the distress call, the DPO quickly led his men to the scene, but on sighting the policemen, the robbers took to flight, but they were hotly chased and one of them, Sadiiq Hassan, was arrested with a locally-made pistol, while the other one escaped.

“Following diligent investigation, the second suspect, Kudus Rasak, was apprehended on April 19, 2021 at a hideout in Owode Ijako and a live cartridge was recovered from him.

“The two suspects have confessed to being the ones, who robbed Nonso of his valuables.”

The PPRO added that the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.     ,,
