Director Ryan Coogler, composer Ludwig Göransson, Archie Davis (chief creative officer at Def Jam), and Dave Jordan produced the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack album. “Ryan and I talked about the importance of creating an immersive journey of sound and voice,” Göransson said in a statement. “If we used a song in the film, we wanted it to be the entire song, and to be connected to the story. Thematically, we wanted to move the audience from grief to celebration. When you listen to the soundtrack, you can close your eyes and relive the experience of the movie. That was the intention.”

The tracklist for the soundtrack to Marvel’s blockbuster sequel has been revealed featuring the Rihanna-led single “Lift Me Up,” which serves as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman. The Tems-penned track was released earlier this month, marking Rihanna’s first solo release since 2016.

In addition to Rihanna, the 19-track compilation features appearances from Burna Boy, Fireboy DML, Tobe Nwigwe, Snow Tha Product, E-40, and more. Tems covers Bob Marley’s “No Woman, No Cry,” while Future teams up with OG DAYV on “Limoncello.”

The album, produced by Ryan Coogler, Ludwig Göransson, Archie Davis, and Dave Jordan, was expected to feature a second song from Rihanna called “Born Again,” written by The-Dream and James Fauntleroy, but the song is missing from the tracklist.

Göransson spent over 2500 hours recording the score and soundtrack in six studios, across three continents and five countries. The audience will hear over 250 musicians, two orchestras, two choirs, and over 40 vocalists throughout the film.

The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – Music From and Inspired By is set for release on Nov. 4, while the movie starring Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, and Winston Duke hits theaters Nov. 11.

With Shuri (Letitia Wright) rumoured to don on the Black Panther suit after the death of Chadwick Boseman, the highly anticipated sequel will see Wakanda threatened by newfound enemies as a lot of fan- favourite characters return for the potential record breaking sequel.

Marvel’s new trailer for the sequel confirmed that Letitia Wright will wear the superhero shoes although it is yet to officially announce the new Black Panther.

The filming of the sequel which took over a year of production faced a lot of challenges over minor set injuries on set and Covid-19 ailments. It started in August 2020 after months of speculations over recasting the role of King T’Challa played by Chadwick Boseman who had died the previous year from cancer.

Afrobeats superstar, Temilade Openiyi ‘Tems’ also featured on the soundtrack of Marvel Studio’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ as she sang a cover of Bob Marley’s No, Woman No Cry with a Kendrick Lamar sample of Alright.
