Rep. AOC (D-NY) seems to call out Rep. Gaetz (R-FL) after Rep. Greene (R-GA) held up naked pictures of Hunter Biden:
“If the gentlelady from Georgia wanted to follow evidence, we should also take a look at, hypothetically… sex trafficking charges against a 17-year-old girl…”
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) appeared to take a veiled swipe at Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) during the House Oversight Committee meeting on the IRS’ investigation into Hunter Biden.
The committee gathered on Wednesday to hear from two IRS whistleblowers who allege that investigations by the agency into President Joe Biden’s son were obstructed.
At one point, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) asked the whistleblower Joseph Ziegler if Hunter Biden violated the Mann Act by buying a ticket for an alleged prostitute to visit him in Washington, D.C.
Other Democrats sounded off about the clip too.
‘Repulsive,’ Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon, D-Pa., wrote on Twitter. ‘It’s particularly rich to see two people who have no sense of their own roles and responsibilities as members of Congress badmouth @RepRaskin— a true patriot and public servant. @GOPLeader will you defend this too? Or just pretend you haven’t seen the clip?’ she added, tagging Leader Kevin McCarthy.
New York Democrat Rep. Jerry Nadler added on Twitter: ‘@RepRaskin is a wonderful father, a selfless public servant and an American hero in every sense of the word. Matt Gaetz should strive to be even half of the patriot and kindhearted human being that Mr. Raskin is.’
Raskin is a Democratic member of the Jan. 6 committee, which is holding its first public hearing Thursday evening at 8 p.m. Republicans have slammed the committee’s work as a political ‘sham.’
Gaetz himself is currently under investigation for obstruction of justice related to a sex trafficking investigation into him.
Gaetz’s former pal Joel Greenberg, a Florida county tax commissioner, pleaded guilty to sex trafficking charges and is reportedly cooperating with the Justice Department’s investigation into Gaetz.
“This is a violation of the Mann Act. This was prostitution,” Greene alleged while displaying to the committee graphic photos of Hunter Biden nude with censorship bars added.
Several minutes later, it was Ocasio-Cortez’s turn to talk to the two whistleblowers.
“If the gentle lady from Georgia wanted to follow evidence, we should also take a look at hypothetically, a case where sex trafficking charges against a 17-year-old girl potentially–” Ocasio-Cortez said before her time expired.
Gaetz said of Raskin, a Maryland Democrat and member of the House Jan. 6 committee: ‘He’s unable to do the sort of congressional experience outside of the dungeon of that personal trauma.’
Raskin’s son Tommy Raskin died by suicide at the age of 25 on New Year’s Eve 2021 after a bout with depression.
‘[Raskin] is a greater statesman, Congressman, human being than most of us. History will remember him. Tommy was a remarkable person and testament of his parents’ love. Gaetz is a bad haircut in a cheap suit, a feat of mediocrity given that he’s here on papa’s money. Bye,’ Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter.
After Tommy’s death, Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., announced she would be going vegetarian for lent to honor the outspoken vegan and animal rights activist.
