Three 15-year-old boys were captured on CCTV briefly petting the cat, named Bucket, before lifting her off a brick wall outside a home on Bourke Street in Goulburn, 190km southwest of Sydney, on August 31.

Bucket is a very trusting and social cat, who loved to receive cuddles from schoolchildren and neighbours before she was snatched.

Her affection was on full display in the heartbreaking CCTV, with the elderly cat carried away by the boys without a fight.

They were heard saying ‘this is my cat’ and laughing about putting Bucket in their bike basket as they carried her down the street.
