Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that picture of police officer who unalived Elijah Wilks after being pistol whipped revealed in 49th & Millroad.
A man is dead following an officer-involved shooting near 49th and Mill, according to Milwaukee police.
In a Thursday, Oct. 9 press briefing, Police Chief Jeffrey Norman said an off-duty officer was on his way to work and was involved in a minor vehicle accident with another person. An altercation ensued, according to police, and the officer was reportedly hit in the face with a gun by the other driver, resulting in an exchange of gunfire in which the police officer fatally shot the man.
Family tells CBS 58 the man who died is 26-year-old Elijah Wilks.
Officials say the officer was not struck during the exchange of gunfire, but sustained injuries to his face.
The officer that discharged his duty weapon during this incident is a 40-year-old male with over 21 years of service. The officer will be placed on administrative duty as is routine in officer involved shooting investigations.
The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team will be investigating this incident. The West Allis Police Department is the leading agency.
