Three men have been arrested for masterminding a job scam that almost led to the lynching of 42 Hausa youth in Ondo State.

The prime suspect, Ayo, had posed as Reverend Bayo and as Doctor Folajimi Williams.

He then sent out a fake security job alert at a nonexistent oil company in Ondo State and the 42 Hausa youth applied for it. They were made to pay N10,000 each for training and data capturing.

They were then told to travel down to the State, but unknown to them, Ayo had also alerted some indigenes of Ondo that some Boko Haram terrorists were on their way to invade the State to launch serious attacks.

The move almost led to the death of the jobseekers through jungle justice, upon their arrival at about 10pm, last week Thursday. They were later rescued by some Amotekun corps.

The scam was later unravelled by the officials of the DSS in Ondo State, leading to the arrest of the arrowhead of the syndicate in Asaba, Delta State. Apart from the 42 youth, an NGO, Harmony Corps, was also scammed.

According to a source, the biggest issue is that scammers advertise jobs the same way that legitimate employers do. He warned individuals and companies to be wary of these scammers.
