Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that SRC guy, Musawenkosi Gcabashe Mavuso, has handed himself over to Hillbrow police station after he graped a lady at WITS library.
A member of the University of the Witwatersrand’s (Wits) Student Representative Council (SRC) has been accused of raped by a 20-year-old student, in a case that has sparked major outcry on campus.
The suspect, identified as Musawenkosi Mavuso, is a third-year Bachelor of Education student and a member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) political party.
In a social media post, the alleged victim stated that the brutal sexual assault occurred on a Friday at 8:30 PM. She reported the incident to Campus Control, who confirmed they reviewed CCTV footage of the encounter.
The victim also expressed severe emotional distress, stating she has been left feeling suicidal and unable to prepare for her exams.
This development follows a student protest yesterday where Wits students gathered at Mavuso’s residence to demand accountability. It has now been reported that the accused was detained by police yesterday.
