According to Ofcom, LoveWorld TV was sanctioned because of pastor Chris' statement that the COVID-19 pandemic is linked to 5G and it was a subject of 'a global cover up'.
Ofcom wrote: "The broadcasts linked the pandemic to 5G; said that it was the subject of 'a global cover -up'; and presented hydroxychloroquine as a proven 'cure'.
These claims were potentially harmful and made without adequate protection".
Ofcom continued by stating that the broadcasts have risked undermining viewers' trust in official advice with potentially serious consequences for public health.
Ofcom ended its statement by saying that LoveWorld TV might be imposed with further sanctions.
