"I applied for funding, no one responded" - Desmond Tutu's granddaughter, Natasha Thahane, says as she clears air after receiving backlash

Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Desmond Tutu's granddaughter and actress, Natasha Thahane, has broken silence after being dragged by South Africans over her statement on funding on MacG's podcast. (Read More Here).

Yesterday, her interview dropped and it was good. In the interview, she says she got scholarship to study at The New York Film Academy in January 2017, but needed funding.

Luckily, she reached out to Baleka Mbete, who helped out with the funding for just one session, while her family did the rest. Her interview led to strong backlash.

Addressing the received backlashes, Natasha Thahane, took to Twitter to share some receipts of some emails she received and also sent. The first email was that of New York Film Academy's and it reads:

Dear Natasha:

"Congratulations on your acceptance and scholarship to study at The New York Film Academy.
Please, see the letter from NYFA below.
Are you ready to start in May? We will need to start the Visa application soon. Have your instruction on that yet?
Kind regards
Hayley."

Her second email was her own personal message to the government, which she sent on February 28, 2017 and it reads:

"I'm writing to you for financial assistance to study acting for Film at New York York Film Academy (USA) in May 2017. I'm 21 years old, born and Bred in Soweto (Orlando East). Last year November, I auditioned for acceptance at the New York Film Academy..."

The last email screenshot was from her to Obama's Foundation, which was sent on the March 15, 2017, after her email to the South African Government was ignored.

Her email to Obama Foundation reads:

"My name is Natasha Thahane. I have been applying for funding since January in South Africa and no one has gotten back to me..."

While speaking on Podcast and Chill With MacG, she says when she got admission, she didn't have quite enough money for the tuition fees. She began to use her connections to raise funds.

Natasha Thahane continued as she said that she had to connect with Baleka Mbete (while she was still at the Parliament) and told her to help her with funds for her education, because she needed to go back to school.

The 26-year-old Natasha Thahane confirmed that she spent over 1 million Rand plus for her tuition fees at the Academy. Baleka Mbete contacted the Department of Arts and Culture on her behalf to help raise funds, which was granted.

According to Natasha Thahane, she says she didn't want to ask for funds for the entire years she would be spending at the New York Film Academy, because she felt they won't grant her. She had to request for just one year session funds.

In essence, all she said is that the government funded part of her education and her family also did.

Natasha Thahane is currently under fire as South Africans are dragging her on Twitter, Tiktoker, YouTube and Instagram.

South Africans are currently asking Natasha on Twitter, why didn't she go through NSFAS
(National Student Financial Aid Scheme) for funding, but went through Baleka.

Apparently, she's blocking people who are dragging her.
