VIDEO: Mitumba traders dismiss Raila Odinga’s manifesto towards Mitumba textile and clothing business in Gikomba market

Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Mitumba traders have dismissed Raila Odinga’s manifesto towards Mitumba business in Gikomba market. (Read More Here).

Geoffrey, a Gikomba Mitumba Hawker, opposes Raila'a Mitumba ban, says it will cause untold suffering.

53-Year-Old, Maggie Mbula Musyimi, a Mitumba Tailor, a Mother of SIX,cannot even imagine that Azimio is Proposing to end Gikomba as we know it in the first 100 days after being elected. She is saying wa-Kenya msikubali

While outlining his plans for the traders during his manifesto launch at Nyayo stadium, Mr Odinga lamented that the textile industry in the country had been killed through liberalization, which led to the importation of mitumba products.

“Our people are only wearing clothes coming from outside the country which have been worn by people who are dead. We are going to go to primary production so that our people who are importing mitumba can have good products to sell here,” the ODM leader said.

He pointed out that his administration will ensure that those who are importing mitumba get the first hand to market the locally manufactured products in the country.

“I’m saying that we are not moving anybody out of business. We will ensure that those who are importing mitumba get the first hand to market goods which are going to be manufactured here in this country.

“We will get the cotton, jinn it here, spin it here and make finished products here,” Mr Odinga said.

didn’t criticize the good businesspersons who sell MITUMBA, let alone those who buy them. His call was simple and straightforward — REVIVE the collapsed Kenyan textile industry from local cotton farming to fabric manufacturing — to make and buy Kenyan.

60% of Kenyans wear Mitumba clothes from Gikomba Market.

The Textile industry can't grow if we keep the importation of Mitumba Clothes. It's the truth. Paul Kagame figured that out and banned mitumba despite the threats from the West. AGOA is the problem. Otherwise Mitumba sellers in Gikomba can have their products produced locally.

What does Hon Raila and azimio have against poor down trodden 45 million Kenyans? Why do they hate the poor? Why do they see as bad omen to be sons or daughters of poor Kenyans from rural Kenya? Why do they want to criminalise wearing Mitumba?

Very brave that Raila Odinga touched a raw nerve: Mitumba. When Rwanda banned Mitumba in 2018, it fell out with the US government. They forfeited AGOA for their dignity. Let's revive our textile industries by looking at the demands of the market. EAC is a BIG market for us.

Ruto has tweeted about Mitumba and it's like Raila Odinga has been waiting for that tweet all day. He's responded just above that Ruto tweet, and all employers in Kenya have told their employees they are free to go to the stadium now. Clutch.

Rwanda STOPPED Mitumba in 2018. Now Kenyans are IMPORTING Mitumba from Rwanda. Clothes WORN and EXHAUSTED by Rwanda. And so I ask: What is WRONG with what Baba said about Kicomi JEANS from Kenya and Rivatex shirts?
