SHOOTING VIDEO: CCTV footage shows moment a suspect shot and killed 23-year-old University of Pretoria honours student, Thapelo Menwe, over cellphone in Hatfield

Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that CCTV footage has showed moment a suspect shot and killed 23-year-old University of Pretoria honours student, Thapelo Menwe, over cellphone in Hatfield. 

In the trending video, Thapelo Menwe, is seen walking alone in the deep darkness when a man with gun began to follow him from behind. 

After following him, he approached Thapelo Menwe, and began to ask him some unknown and unheard questions. In the process, the suspect shot Thapelo Menwe dead. 

Incident occurred on Saturday morning by Grosvenor and South near University of Pretoria Tuks Dorp student res. 

The students was mugged by a unknown armed suspect wearing a jacket and a white cap. Suspect shot the student on the chest and the student died on scene.

University of Pretoria has taken to social media to react. Message reads:

"It is with great shock and sadness that the University of Pretoria (UP) confirms the death of one of our students in the early hours of Saturday morning in Hatfield, close to the Tuksdorp residence. 1/2

"The suspect has been arrested. We strongly condemn the violence. Our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s friends and family, whom we are offering counseling. 2/2." 

Message from a journalist reads: "Thapelo Menwe, a 23-year-old University of Pretoria honours student, was brutally murdered on his way home on Friday night in Hatfield for his phone. We're praying that justice prevails for our dear Thapelo."
