VIDEO: Dos mujeres escalan Estela de Luz; exigen fin de la violencia y respuestas sobre desaparecidos en México

The intervention, which began minutes after 6:00 a.m. on September 15, is part of a peaceful protest organized by members of the Hasta Encontrte collective, made up of relatives of the disappeared and victims of violence.

Two activists climbed this Thursday, the Estela de Luz , located in Mexico City, to display a blanket in protest for the disappeared in Mexico.

The intervention, which began minutes after 6:00 a.m. on September 15, is part of a peaceful protest organized by members of the Hasta Encontrte collective , made up of relatives of the disappeared and victims of violence.

According to images and videos shared on social networks, the two women are climbing the inside of the monument that dates from the celebrations of the Bicentennial of the Independence of Mexico during the six-year term of Felipe Calderón.

At the foot of the Estela de Luz a security belt formed by relatives of the disappeared. The Marabunta Brigade is also on site providing support to the protesters.

The monument made of marble has a height of 104 meters. Let us remember, taking advantage, that for months a movement has been initiated that seeks to change the name of the Estela de Luz to Memorial of the Victims of Violence in Mexico and Estela de la Paz , so that is why they used that name in their demonstration this September 15 .

Although the joke is that it is all about a peaceful protest to climb the Estela de Luz and demonstrate against violence.

In the lower part of the monument, a cordon of organizations such as Amnesty International or the Marabunta Brigade has formed, which is seeking to ensure that the demonstration continues peacefully , while they review the security of the Hasta Encounter you collective in this demonstration against militarization and the escalation of the violence.
