A train station in Germany was renamed ‘Kuala Schlumpur’ for three days, as part of a move to raise awareness about the climate crisis

A train station in Germany was renamed ‘Kuala Schlumpur’ for three days, as part of a move to raise awareness about the climate crisis.

The Hamburg Transport Association told radio station NDR, it wanted to bring attention to rising sea levels, drought and extreme heat.

It said that the changed names were meant to show passengers “what it could look like here if we don't take countermeasures”.

The ‘Kuala Schlumpur’ name was given to the Schlump station, which is in Eimsbüttel.

Other stations were also renamed under the initiative, including Balearenfeld (Bahrenfeld), Seychellingen (Stellingen) and Havannerbrook (Hammerbrook).
