After 15 years since the release of “Rush Hour 3,” Jackie Chan has confirmed that a fourth instalment is officially happening

After 15 years since the release of “Rush Hour 3,” Jackie Chan has confirmed that a fourth instalment is officially happening!

The 68-year-old shared the news during an appearance at the Red Sea International Film Festival, saying he was set to meet with the director of the upcoming action flick in Saudi Arabia to discuss matters concerning production and the script.

Jackie admitted that the screenplay he had previously read “isn’t right,” which is why he was keen on meeting the director — whose identity he did not disclose — in person. Fans of the blockbuster franchise will already be aware that Brett Ratner helmed the previous three films, which were released in 1998, 2001, and 2007, respectively. However, Brett has not directed a single project in years after being caught up in sexual assault allegations amid the MeToo movement back in 2017.

It’s unclear whether Chris Tucker is attached to the project, though the actor has been very vocal in the past on wanting to reprise his role as Carter, having told the “Winging It” podcast in 2019 he’d jump at the opportunity to film a fourth instalment so long as “it comes together right.” He continued, "Jackie Chan wants to do it, I want to do it, [the] studio wants to do it, so we're trying to get it together.”
