RELATED? Protagonist of "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Part 9 JOJOLANDS" will be a descendant of Joseph Joestar

According to Hirohiko Araki, the protagonist of "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Part 9 JOJOLANDS" will be a descendant of Joseph Joestar.

Also he wants to draw a "Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan" story set in America. The 2023 issue of Kono Mystery ga Sugoi! (This Mystery is Excellent!) that released today includes an interview with JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure creator, Hirohiko Araki.

In the interview, Araki teases information about his upcoming work that is currently in progress, the ninth part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, tentatively titled JOJOLANDS. The interview took place in July 2022 at Araki’s office. Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan Episode 11: Drip Painting Style was his last work at the time, released on May 19, 2022 in the June 2022 issue of Ultra Jump.

Araki: It’s okay to have a mystery that may not be solved, right? Or is that bad? (laughs)

I don’t do that only for mysteries, but even for my drawings. I sometimes start drawing without knowing what I’ll end up with. I often find myself thinking, “I wonder how I should draw this part,” or “Oh, I screwed up this color.” In such cases, I say, “God, I’m sorry, please help me.”

Araki: I have a friend who doesn’t directly monitor me, but they guess my whereabouts based on information they get from others around me and would say “That’s where you’re going.” But their motive is a mystery to me. I always wonder what that person is trying to do (laughs). Even though I have no idea, I like it that way. Every day for me is a mystery. That’s life, isn’t it?

One of the more prominent archetypes in anime is also the "old warrior." These figures tend to provide the "mentor" role for most heroes of shonen anime, or in a few cases, can even be an antagonist or a villain. This November, the latest Bleach season saw one such character enter one of the most brutal and no-holds-barred battles ever to be seen in shonen anime history.

Master Roshi certainly fills more than just one anime archetype due to his "nature," but he quickly filled the mentor role for a young Goku as he fought his way to the top in the original Dragon Ball series. Though Roshi witnessed Goku's rising success over time, he believed this to be a hindrance to his student's progress as a fighter. So, he sought to ensure that Goku didn't win the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament by entering himself disguised.

What unfolds is a legendary match between student and master in one of the more famous fights of the entire Dragon Ball series. With both Goku and Jackie/Roshi as the two finalists, the result is an all-out brawl that lasts overnight. Though he may be older, he still has enough in him to knock some sense back into his pupil when required.

In one of the more "bizarre" fights to be featured in JoJo's Bizzare Adventure, a much older Joseph Joestar finds his arm infected by Nena's parasitic stand, Empress. What starts off as a comedy of errors for the plagued Joseph eventually becomes a nightmare as the parasite grows to the point that it can engage in combat against Joseph.

What makes Joseph's fight with Empress so engaging is that it proves once again that his strengths lie more with his wit than strength. Clued in by the Empress themselves that a "stand can only be defeated by another stand," Joseph manages to outthink and defeat the stand, declaring that his way of thinking "only gets better with age."
