The $350 MSCHF Big Red Boots sold out in 7 minutes

The $350 MSCHF Big Red Boots sold out in 7 minutes.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander pulled up to last night’s game in the Big Red Boots from MSCHF!

Shown here is the MSCHF Big Red Boot releasing exclusively at and on the MSCHF Sneakers app next week. The boots leaked over the weekend, and like past releases from MSCHF, they sent social media into a frenzy due to their unique design.

The silhouette appears to be inspired by the footwear worn by the protagonist in the classic manga Astro Boy, as well as the boots worn by Dora’s monkey sidekick in Dora the Explorer. The upper of MSCHF’s Big Red Boot is constructed almost entirely of a TPU shell, with EVA foam used for the ribbed outsole.

MSCHF’s sneaker releases first caught the attention of fans with its custom “Jesus” Air Max 97 in 2019, followed by a “Satan” sequel and the latter of which earned them a lawsuit from Nike.

Composed of a TPU rubber shell and EVA sole units, the boots noticeably bear a heavy resemblance to Astro Boy‘s propulsive boots as seen in the comics. Pictured above is Sarah Snyder styling the pairs on the streets of NYC, showcasing their outrageous proportions.

“If you kick someone in these boots they go BOING!” MSCHF writes. “You never design shoes to be shaped like feet. Big Red Boots are REALLY not shaped like feet, but they are EXTREMELY shaped like boots.”

MSCHF’s Big Red Boot, described as "Cartoon boot for a Cool 3D World," released February of 2023. The oversize silhouette is a giant abstraction of a boot form, and recalls classic cartoon and game shoe designs. The boots are constructed from a single TPU rubber exterior shell with an EVA interior. Features a MSCHF mark on the sole tread. Boots run true to size; calf apertures range from 368-425mm diameter.

“Over the years, we’ve seen countless allusions to the character in footwear and fashion- BAIT being the most prevalent, through multiple collaborative projects- but none coming more literally than this… the Big Red Boots are “really not shaped like feet, but extremely shaped like boots.”
