As for the hat itself — it is, like its predecessor, bright red. But this time, the cap exudes a bit more of a McDonald’s mood. Instead of writing out “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN” like the original, MAGA 2.0 simply says “MAGA” in gargantuan white letters outlined with very bright yellow, hence the Ronald McDonald and/or general fast food mascot vibe. Perhaps Ronald McDonald would wear if he played baseball?
The hat is available for $40 on Trumps’ website, Friend...Hundreds of people lined the streets waving MAGA flags and chanting 'no more Joe' to greet Trump after he landed in the community on his renovated Trump Force One jet.
In a speech in the local fire department he praised the response from law enforcement and the 'strength and courage' of the residents, and said: 'You are not forgotten'.
He promised to return if the community didn't get help from the White House and when a reporter asked what message he had for Biden, Trump said: 'Get over here'.
His visit coincided with Norfolk Southern releasing a statement saying they would take 'full responsibility' for the derailment and Pete Buttigieg confirming he'll visit the site on Thursday.
But residents of East Palestine feel that a visit at this point from Biden or Buttigieg would be largely useless.
'It's a little too late,' East Palestine resident William Hugar, 56, told DailyMail.com while eating breakfast at a local diner when asked if Biden should visit.
'Like he can come, but for what?' he questioned.
'We stand with you,' Trump told the crowd at the East Palestine Fire Department, 'we pray for you, and we'll stay with you in your fight to help answer and [get] accountability that you deserve.'
Some of their targets laughed it off. At least one seemed intimidated. Others simply ignored them.
One worker, in particular, wasn't having it, though.
Much much, much worse, Trump then said that the people of East Palestine, Ohio, were “betrayed” by the Biden administration. As you likely already know, Trump’s MAGAs were pointing at a big, mostly harmless, balloon the week of the train derailment and only afterward, when Republican Gov. DeWine denied needing federal assistance (Except the EPA, which was on the ground immediately – often left out of the Trump narrative). Meanwhile, Biden needed to be the “leader of the freeworld” and make the most consequential presidential trip in modern history. The trip took at least a month to prepare and couldn’t be stopped, even for a disaster like a train derailment. It was more important to the enlightened democratic nations of the world, and many of us in America still believe we have a role to play in global issues.
So Trump came riding to the rescue, for the cameras only. He brought some water! How nice, bottled water, the one thing that the federal government absolutely had brought in. And he brought hats! Yes, during Trump’s very important campaign stop in East Palestine, Ohio, he brought MAGA hats to throw to people at McDonald’s. Yes, he actually did.
