FROM MRS MABEL OLORUNFEMI( The Deceased wife)
My 8 years old daughter, Sarah attends Luyol School, Iju Ishaga, Lagos State and the school bus picks and drop her everyday. On the 1st of Feb, my daughter came home and told me that after the school bus driver had dropped everyone at their houses, he took her to his house, told her to lift her school uniform and sit on his lap to kiss him and was calling her his wife. When my husband returned home, I told him everything. He was so angry and we went to the school the following day. At the proprietor’s office, the bus driver who goes by the name Jacob, was also present. After asking my daughter to narrate all that happened, the proprietor asked the driver why he brought back the school bus late on that fateful day my daughter said he took her to his house, he responded that he had to drop something somewhere after dropping the kids. Out of anger, my husband slapped him. The driver held my husband in the neck and then pushed him on his chest. My husband fell down and passed out. The driver fled the scene immediately. We rushed my husband to the hospital and he was confirmed dead on arrival. Till now the driver has not been found and the school is doing business as usual. I NEED JUSTICE FOR MY HUSBAND, FREDERICK OLORUNFEMI."

A 51-year-old man, Frederick Olorunfemi, has died while fighting a school bus driver who allegedly molested his seven-year-old daughter in Lagos State.

Frederick had gone to the school’s administration with his wife and daughter to report the molestation and request immediate action.

It was gathered that Jacob, the driver, fled the scene after Frederick was killed in the scuffle.

Speaking with Vanguard, Frederick’s widow narrated: “On Wednesday, Feb. 1, my daughter told me that her school bus driver had been taking her to his house in Ajuwon, on the pretext that he needed to drop something off at home and that she should follow him.

When they entered the house, the driver would ask my daughter to sit on his lap; to raise her school uniform, and to kiss him on the mouth.

I told my husband what our daughter said on Monday, Feb. 6, and he immediately called the school to lodge a complaint and said he was also reporting the allegation to the police.

He was told to come to the school first, so we went there on Tuesday, Feb. 7, and we met the school owner, the driver, and some of the teachers.

After listening to us, the school owner confronted the driver, saying that he had returned late with the school bus the previous week, and when asked, he said he had gone to drop something at home.

He was later asked about the allegations levelled against him, which he denied. My daughter was then asked, and she narrated the same experience she told us at home.

The driver couldn’t say anything other than to query: `me’? `me’? `me’? My husband, who was visibly angry, slapped the driver, and they started fighting, during which he p¥shed my husband on his chest. He fell and efforts to revive him were abortive. We rushed him to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead.”

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesman in Lagos State, confirmed the incident and said the police were on the trail of the driver and would not relent until he was apprehended.
