42 Dugg denies reports that he faces an extra five years in jail safter pleading guilty for possessing an illegal firearm

42 Dugg denies reports that he faces an extra five years in jail.

42 Dugg faces up to 5 more years in federal prison after pleading guilty for possessing an illegal firearm.

According to Detroit News, 42 Dugg recently pleaded guilty for possession of an illegal firearm, but it might come along with additional prison time. The rapper is reportedly staring down another five years behind bars. During his hearing, Dugg admitted to the court that he purposefully failed to show up to serve a six-month sentence for unlawful carry of a firearm. Unfortunately, it seems as though he could be adding years to that sentence, as well as a fine of $250K.

In May of last year, the “We Paid” rapper was apprehended by federal agents for his failure to surrender and did a few months behind bars over it.

The original issue began back in November 2019, when the Bureau or Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) received a tip that Dugg had fired a weapon at an Atlanta gun range. As a convicted felon for prior carjacking and firearms possession charges, he was not allowed to fire any weapon, and he was ultimately arrested and charged with felony firearms possession in March 2020.

The rapper allegedly failed to report to serve a prison sentence and federal agents arrested him in Michigan. What’s worse is that authorities described his arrest as a multi-state operation that uncovered alleged documents in which he claimed to be a sovereign citizen.

In May 2021, 42 Dugg and his legal team entered plea negotiations for the gun charge, which carried a maximum sentence of 10 years. But with the plea deal, he was able to avoid jail time and get away with probation. However, a judge revoked his probation soon after and slapped him with six months in jail and two years of supervised release.

42 Dugg was expected to surrender and report to a West Virginia prison in April of last year. Because he failed to turn himself in, federal agents had to retrieve him at an opportune time, which was evidently soon after he landed at a Motor City airport.

Throughout the year since his arrest, there have been few updates surrounding 42 Dugg’s release. However, he continued to deliver a slew of singles to keep fans on their toes. He dropped off “Soon” in May 2022 then dropped, “IDGAF” a few months later. In between those singles, his presence was also felt through a slew of collaborations alongside Lil Baby and Yo Gotti. Unfortunately, things aren’t looking too great for him these days, and it might be a minute until he comes home.
