I watch the unknown gunmen's actions on Facebook, but I never imagined that my blossoming friend would be sacrificed in their senseless and irresponsible killings.
We attended the same secondary school, had a meal, drank alcohol, and engaged in philandering practices together, so I was familiar with his wants, worries, ridiculous crushes, and serious relationship issues. For me, he was the same. We didn't keep anything from one another, and we never lied to one another.
So after graduation, we both bought the same police form and were unsuccessful due to a crooked system in our recruiting process. I followed a desire to complete my education while he reapplied for the Nigerian army, but was rejected because of previous surgery he had. He took up the application form again and reapplied for the Nigeria Civil Defense Corps since he loved the armed services. This time, he stood out from the competition and was listed as a qualified applicant.
The last time I called him, we spent the whole conversation talking about his wedding.
He used to stand up for me back then because of his physically intimidating appearance. He purchased the first phone I ever used, a Sony Ericson. I had him as my bodyguard.
I have never had or made another friend after he joined the civil defense while I maintained my studies since nobody can be like him.
The monsters they made without faces robbed me in broad daylight.
I have been wounded deeply by those who parade themselves as a god; those who have abrogated themselves the power of life and death that they now decide who dies or who lives, forgetting that we are all allies in this world!".
