"My wife is 21 and not 11" - 60-Year-Old Kano Alhaji, Aminu Danmaliki, finally speaks after being accused of getting married to underage girl

60-Year-Old Kano Alhaji, Aminu Danmaliki, finally speaks after being accused of getting married to underage girl.

The groom, identified as a local Kano Alhaji, has defended his actions, claiming the marriage was born out of love and mutual consent.

"She is my choice, I married her because we love each other" Alhaji stated.

Nigerians are currently reacting. Reactions below:

Michael: Kano Alhaji who married an 11 year old girl says they both love each other.
The people that are meant to look up to by the youths for inspiration re the ones bringing this shame and disgrace to our country..

Pascal: Just imagine the child abuse What kind of religion or culture that allows this sacrilege and abomination? Gosh! She is just a baby.

Abel: They go about shouting “Haram this and Haram that” while busy defiling innocent little kids that are yet to reach puberty. Bloody perverts & pedophiles.

Others that witnessed the wedding include Makaman Bichi, Alhaji Isyaku Umar Tofa, the Sarkin Dawaki Mai Tuta among others.

The bride is said to be a direct descendant of Malam Jamo, who was a brother to the late emir of Kano, Ibrahim Dabo.

In response to the controversy, the Kano Alhaji has maintained that the marriage was a personal choice made by both parties.

However, critics argue that an 11-year-old cannot give informed consent and that this incident is indicative of the broader issue of child exploitation in Nigeria.

Some community members have defended the marriage, citing cultural and religious factors, while others argue that the case highlights the need for education and awareness about the rights of children, particularly young girls.

He wrote: “My recent marriage with Sakina has generated a lot of tension and unfounded allegations that I married an underage girl, some suggesting she is 11 years old and that she was forced to marry me.

“That is untrue. The Wedding Video went viral. We decided to keep mute but was advised to state the true facts, here it is: My beloved wife is 21 years old she made her own choice of me as her husband and I loved her too.

“I hope the blackmailers and doubting Thomas’s will see the reality in this picture and leave us alone to enjoy our honeymoon.”

Nigerians had condemned the man after images of their wedding went viral on social media.

Many had berated him saying that underage girls should be protected rather than married off to old men. Reacting, Danmaliki in a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday said they both love each other and she was not forced to marry him.
