Judge Cassim Moosa lambasted Hlabangwane, a qualified actuarial scientist, and said a clear, crisp, and unambiguous message needed to be sent out to society.
Moosa said femicide and intimate killing were on the rise in the country.
Hlabangwane was sentenced to life for premeditated murder, 10 years for defeating the cause of justice, and 15 years for violating a corpse.
The sentence has been ordered to run concurrently with the life term.
