Indiana class valedictorian & basketball standout, Grant Brown, has been arrested for child rape & possession of child sexual abuse materials.

Grant Brown, 20, of Fairmount, has been charged w 2 counts of child molestation, 2 counts of child exploitation & 8 counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials. A warrant for Brown’s arrest was issued Tuesday. He turned himself in at the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, according to a press release from state police.

“The investigation started in July 2022, when (ISP) Detective Dave Preston was requested by the Summitville Police Department to take over a case involving an allegation of child molestation,” the release states.

“During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that additional criminal actions had occurred with multiple juvenile females.”

On May 23, a warrant was issued for Brown's arrest. He reportedly turned himself in to the Madison County Sheriff's Department. Brown was the career assists leader and surpassed 1,000 points scored at Madison-Grant, from which he graduated as co-valedictorian in 2021. He played on the basketball team at Anderson University last season and is listed on the Ravens' roster on AU's website.

In a compilation of valedictorian profiles in The Herald Bulletin that year, Brown wrote, "My family, friends, teachers, coaches and especially my faith have inspired me to become the best student, athlete, son and young man I can possibly become. I strive to be a leader and set an example for those around me. I want my actions to inspire greatness in others."
