"It's one of those things that all parents go through. They don't want their kids to go off, but they know they have to," he said. And every time I get something in the mail for college, I don't know if I really want to give her this because she might take them up on this offer and go somewhere to college."
For now, Dannielynn is enjoying high school, and while she is largely kept out of the spotlight, she attends the annual Kentucky Derby with her father - most recently stepping out to the event on Saturday.

The shocking charge against the late superstar’s father, Donald Hogan, was leveled by her secret girlfriend, Melissa “Missy” Byrum, in the new Netflix documentary “Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me,” out Tuesday.
“She told me that her father had tried to have sex with her,” a tearful Byrum reveals in the doc. “I was really sad to see that. She was so so disappointed.”
The alleged assault occurred in 1993, after Smith — then an ex-stripper and a single mother to son Daniel — was granted the coveted title of Playboy’s Playmate of the Year, for which Hugh Hefner gifted her a Jaguar convertible. Days prior to receiving the honors, the curvaceous model had hired a private detective to find Hogan, whom she’d never met.
After their inaugural phone call, she flew her father and his son Donnie, then 16, to California to attend the awards ceremony, hosted inside Hef’s swank Playboy Mansion.
