The Dallas Mavericks are ready to face the defending Champions, the Denver Nuggets, tonight. That means basketball fans will be treated to an epic duel between Nikola Jokić and Luka Doncic. Jokic and Luka are two of the best players in the league, and they have been in elite form this season. But despite their competitive nature, there is a bond between the two superstars off the court.
Visibly weaker but undaunted, Doncic easily won his MVP-candidate showdown against Denver’s Nikola Jokic, but the severely short-handed Mavericks succumbed, 130-104 to the reigning NBA champion Nuggets in Ball Arena.
Hours after being named Western Conference Player of the Week, Doncic overcame a sluggish start and an accidental whack in the jaw from his buddy Jokic, finishing with 38 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists – extending his franchise record of consecutive 30-point games to 11.
Only one other Maverick scored in double figures, however, Dante Exum with 11. Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic walked into the arena together ahead of their match-up. The two superstars were seen having a conversation and enjoying each other’s company. Fans were excited to see two of the best players in the league linking up and expressed their excitement on social media. One fan wrote, “This is the bromance we all need.”
