Lily Gladstone’s Oscar snub is also a loss to the Native American community, as she would have been the first Native woman to win the award. However, the competition was tight between Stone and Gladstone as they both won several other awards, beating each other, throughout this awards season.
But when Downey reached the stage, he didn’t even make eye contact with Quan, briskly taking the Oscar from his hand without acknowledging him. Downey did shake co-presenter Tim Robbins’ hand and fist-bump with Sam Rockwell before turning to face the adoring crowd, ignoring Quan as he tried to hand him the Oscar envelope.
