Police summons Oulanyah’s father, Bobi Wine, Kiwanda over poison claims

Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Police summoned Oulanyah’s father, Bobi Wine, Kiwanda over poison claims. (Read More Here).

Bobi Wine made the remarks in an interview with Daily Monitor yesterday shortly after meeting Mr Nathan Okori, the father of Oulanyah, at his home.
“I went there to pay tribute to the late Jacob but also condole with the family. I did not want to sound insensitive to him but his message of poisoning his son has been loud and clear, so we ask that let the investigations be done faster,” Bobi Wine said yesterday.

President Museveni announced Oulanyah’s death through his Twitter handle on March 20.
The news about the alleged poisoning of the Oulanyah was exclusively reported by this publication in the subsequent days with Mr Okori indicating that his son had told him that a man in Omoro and a woman in Kampala, whose names were concealed, had poisoned him.

However, sources who participated in the meeting said reconciliation and forgiveness were the key issues shared.
“Mr Kyagulanyi intended to go and condole with the Oulanyah family but he couldn’t drive to Omoro directly without the blessing of the chiefdom,” a source, who participated in the meeting, said.
The source added: “Bobi Wine was particularly questioned why he had not come out publicly to condemn the NUP protests and attacks by his party members and some Baganda [against Oulanyah treatment], for which he openly apologised.”

“We are therefore summoning all those persons with other causes of death including poisoning for further interview and statement recording. These will include Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi who also mentioned Hon.Chris Baryomunsi, Hon. Gilbert Olanya, Hon. Santa Okot, Hon Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert, mzee Nathan Okori and Bosmic Otim,”police spokesperson Fred Enanga told journalists on Monday.

“I am not mourning in vain. I want to state clearly that Jacob was poisoned. He told me and that he was operated as doctors attempted to deal with poison. It affected his health so badly and by time he as flown out he was not in position to recover,”Okori told mourners on Friday during the burial in Lalogi.

“He invited me to his home and I found him in bed. He was very ill. He told me, Godfrey I was poisoned but dont tell anybody. He told me it was around that time when I had just won the speakership,”Kiwanda said adding that he later told the same to minister for ICT, Dr.Chris Baryomunsi.

A journalist reports: "JUST IN: Police has summoned NRM Vicechairperson for Buganda Godfrey Kiwanda, @HEBobiwine, Mzee Nathan Okori and several others over continued allegation that the former speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah was poisoned."
