The Charlotte Hornets have officially cut LiAngelo Ball from the team

Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that The Charlotte Hornets have officially cut LiAngelo Ball from the team. (Read More Here).

Charlotte Hornets plan to waive LiAngelo Ball prior to the start of the upcoming 2022-23 NBA season, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Ball, 23, once again failed to make the 15-man roster after signing a training camp deal with Charlotte in late September.

Hornets went 0-5 in preseason, with Ball averaging just 4.7 minutes of action and one point per contest in three games played.

He has also participated in Summer League and G League for Charlotte over the past three years, always coming up short.

Ball is a solid spot up, three-point shooter, but his lack of defensive prowess has kept him off the court. Fan favorite, LiAngelo Ball, was one of four players that were waived by the Charlotte Hornets today, joining Xavier Sneed, Ty-Shon Alexander, and Jalen Crutcher.

Ball was a longshot to make the roster and saw minimal playing time in preseason play averaging a little over four minutes per game across three games. Last season, Ball averaged 5.6 points and 1.4 rebounds in 36 games with the Greensboro Swarm.

Of the four players that were waived, guard Jalen Crutcher has experienced the most success at the professional level. Last year with the Swarm, Crutcher posted 16.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game while shooting 48% from the field and 43.6% from beyond the arc.

Ball most recently played for the Greensboro Swarm, the Hornets’ G League affiliate, last season. In 36 games and six starts, the guard averaged 5.6 points and 1.4 rebounds.

Charlotte will tip off its 2022–23 campaign on Wednesday in San Antonio against the Spurs.
