An ex-student, Siti Nafirah, who is suing her English teacher for skipping classes for 7 months, hopes her case will be a wake-up call to educators not to neglect lower-class pupils

An ex-student, who is suing her English teacher for allegedly skipping classes for 7 months, hopes her case will be a wake-up call to educators not to neglect lower-class pupils.

Siti Nafirah told the KK High Court, her poor education has resulted in less job opportunities.

She says in 2015, her school's principal also instructed her class to write apology letters, stating good things about the teacher, Mohd Jainal Jamrin, so he would agree to teach them again.

“My classmates and I were desperate, because the final exam is approaching.”

Siti is also suing her school's principal, Kota Belud’s District Education Officer and MOE for their purported failure to take action against Mohd Jainal.

Other defendants in the case are Sabah's Education Director, Education DG and Putrajaya.

3 other former students from Siti’s school also filed a suit against the same English teacher.

The verdict for their case will be delivered on July 18.
